Hello

I tried adding a Toshiba MG07 14TB (MG07ACA14TE) to my home linux server (Intel i3-8100+Asrock Z390M-mITX/AC+BIOS 4.30) and it's not detected by the bios at powerup.
In Centos 8.4, it's not listed by lsblk even when using the rescan-scsi-bus.sh script.
But all is fine (in the bios and in centos) with a soft reboot.
I suspect some kind of timeout during the powerup phase but Fastboot is already disabled in the Bios.

Anything else I can do ?

Again from that PDF:

Maybe the PSU is providing less than 4.7V upon PC hard boot? What is your PSU brand/model?

PSU is Seasonic G360 (SSR-360GP) 80 plus Gold
Bios readings seem fine
  • 12V : 12.196V
  • 5V: 5.086V
  • 3.3V: 3.456V

I also tried with all the other HDDs unplugged with the same result: Toshiba MG07 14TB (MG07ACA14TE) not detected at power up but fine after a soft reset.

I tried swapping PSU with a larger Seasonic Prime Ultra 850 Titanium (SSR-850TR) and it still was the same.

Last test was to use both PSUs:
Prime850 for Mainboard only
G360 for the Toshiba HDD only
G360&HDD was powered on a few seconds before the Prime850&Mainboard
With that combo, power sequence was fine, with the HDD detected in linux.

So I guess the MB boots too fast for the HDD to be properly detected during the power on sequence :(

just a dumb question but is it set @ 4k or 512e?

MG07ACA14TE is 512e. Why would it matter for BIOS detection ?

Try playing with you bios settings.
Disable "quick post" or similar. Some bios have a delay in seconds you can set.
If you are still unable to fix the issue i'd suggest contacting customer support for your motherboard and/or toshiba.

Does you bios have a boot override list ? is it detected inside the bios with that ?
