Toshiba M35 heating problems

I have a toshiba M35-S359 laptop bought about 3 weeks ago. I like the laptop but it gets heated up very hot especially near the mousepad area. Any ways of cooling it down?

Also another question - I received only the recovery DVD with the laptop? Is there a way to install Xp or 2000 if I buy the software seperately.

They all warm up a little bit compared to when the unit is turned off. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes hot to the touch or you start having problems like lockups or errors.
You can load whatever software you want onto that laptop. Since it is a laptop, I would recommend at least loading up Toshiba's utilities for power management which you can find on the Restore DVD or download them from the web. When put the DVD in the machine, it will popup a window asking you if you would like to reload the unit or install application/drivers. Just select applications/drivers and a list of items will show up that you can select.

Is there any other power management utilities other than the preinstalled applications when the laptop came? ther is a icon sitting on the tray which has options for setting the power management options. it is a toshiba app.
Basically the machine does not lockup or give any errors but compared to other laptops, this seems to be hotter.
