Toshiba Laptop Problems...

Hey Everyone

A friend of mine dug an old thorn out of his side this past week and gave up trying to fix a work laptop and gave it to me. He told me that if I could fix it, I could have it. Its a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S1492 model. The problem its having is that it randomly freezes and locks up. I took it apart this evening and cleaned it. It wasnt too dusty, so it doesnt seem like a heat issue. Also I listened while having it running and the CPU fan comes on and runs ok, but yet the temp seems to skyrocket..at which point it locks up. Has anyone encountered this before? Any help in fixing this would be appreciated.

Yep I applied thermal paste on the cpu surface and put everything back together...still randomly freezes....Are there any other surfaces I need to do this to?
