toshiba laptop problems..

i've got a toshiba tecra s1 laptop here, which won't post anymore. since it's out of warranty, i decided i'd rather try to fix it myself than take it in anywhere..

right now ive got the motherboard on my desk, with power and my monitor plugged in, the cpu, and one stick of ram.. it just posted! it said 'check system and then press f1' ..

then it didnt post the next 30 or so times i tried.

since it posted, i know it works in this stripped down state, but i have no idea why it will only post 1 out of 30+ times.. ive checked the whole board over for damage and such and found none...

does anyone have any ideas what i could try with it? ;/
