Can someone post the fine print because it looks like you have to shell out over 1200 dollars for this deal and get your money back in rebates - wow!! - and who does the upgrade to get the extra 256 MB of memory - do they just give you the extra stick of memory or do they install it there after you buy it? -Tom

I would NOT let a Bestbuy Tech install the memory for you. Do it yourself. It only take about 1 min. Trust me.

Circuit City has this same notebook for $749.99 AR today without the extras. Don't know what kind of a PM deal you could get there.

CompUSA has it for $849.97 plus you get a D-link wireless g router w/ any notebook purchase.

Yeah, but I thought the BB deal came with 512 MB of ram - CC sells this at that price for only 256MB's However, I am not sure about all the fine print for the BB deal and you still need to shell out 1200 to get your money back through rebates to make it 699.

One of the BB "extras" is an additional RAM chip, which they will install for you, if you wish. The laptop is actually the same one as at CC. Don't know if CC would adjust down to that price and throw in all the extras, though.

Did you guys get the deal?

Get this..it's not Computer / Printer / Bag / Ram for $699..it's $599

I got it $1049 before tax and the rebates are $450. That looks like $599 in my book. I'm STOKED! Last one in my store

Looks like you got lucky. Over at FW several people are reporting the same thing, while many got charged the advertised price. Some stores charged $899.99 for the computer and some $999.99. Some stores were out of the memory and someone said you had to have that particular memory for the $250 rebate. Some stores charged for the memory install (which I read as being free). Sounds like BB all around. I was in my store Saturday and they had the display set up for that computer and it was $999.99. :( Glad you were one of the lucky ones!

Unfortunately, with regard to the extras, appears CircuitCity would not. According to their Price Match Plus Guarantee (found here):
"Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers and special financing."
Perhaps matching the price is possible, however (although, local CircuitCity locations here have begun declining price-matching for a myriad of inane reasons). Of course, as always, YMMV.

I'm returning my "previous $599 Toshiba laptop" for 3 major reasons:

1) This is way hotter.
2) I cannot live with the 15.0" XGA display.
3) Keyboard is CRAMPED compared to my Compaq 1500T.

It's going to take a lot of bitching but they won't be charging me a restocking fee.

I know, I'm not buying this new Toshiba laptop.

Going to re-install XP Home on my "old" Compaq 1500T.

BB "charged" me too for the memory installation. But when I added all the amounts up, it came out to $1049 before rebates!

DDR = $45.02
Case = $11.99
Z715 = $79.99
Memory Install = $13.00
Laptop = $899.99

Total = $1049.99
MIRs = $20 + $30 + $250 + $150 = $450
Total (AR) = $600

I also got undercharged on the deal. I thought that they just made a mistake but seeing that other people got the same deal, I guess it wasnt a mistake. The laptop is impressive for the price!

This is a sweet laptop. My girlfriend just got this for her college computer. Toshiba satellites are AWESOME notebooks, and for this price with wireless, a printer, 60gb hd, and 512mb of RAM it's a steal.

HardcoreRobot, if you are talking about the Best Buy Credit Card, my sister is thinking about getting one to get the 2 year financing. I think I read somewhere on there that you need a minimum payment of like $10.xx a month. I'm not positive, but I just wanted to let you know in case you missed it.

This is a very good deal but I hate the keyboard and LOW resolution 15.0" XGA display.

Otherwise this laptop is a bargain!!!
