I desperately need help.I have a toshiba laptop, specs below.I STILL have dialup and the laptop has no modem.I purchased an external modem and hooked it up to the laptop.I can get online but it will only stay connected 5 to 15 minutes.I have searched and searched for a solution to this problem(including talking with Toshiba reps)without a solution.I thought maybe it was the modem but after hooking it up to my desktop that's not it,it worked with no problems.Sure hope somebody can help me out.Satellite L355 Detailed Product Specification1

With the modem installed go to device manager and see if there are any "!" up at all.
If not, check for any type of Windows updates you may be missing.
Is there any other way to try a different type of modem out on your laptop? (I was a laptop repair tech and there were a few ways to try this out with modem issues.)
Do a google search for any known incompatibility problems with your modem.
Is your desktop using the same line as your laptop?
