For those who have the Toshiba 2500's series laptop, can you please lmk the physical size (height, width, length) of the hd and what maximum size is supported by the bios?

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2595XDVD with a 6Gig HD, and its nearing its max with 4 partitions (2 Fat32, 2 NTFS) supporting a dual boot 98SE and W2K Server. I'm about to add linux on there as well so I need the room.

What specific models can I place into my laptop? Something around 20gigs would be nice if it can support it.

What about some of the USB HD solutions, can I boot off of USB hds?

Does someone actually have the same model as I do, and actually has linux running on it? Any hardware compatibility issues?

Also, some links to where I can find those hd's available forsale would be nice too.

I do have a local shop that sells Toshiba laptop HDs. The 20gig variety goes for $399Cdn.

THx in advance :)

Go to toshiba's website and check out the support section. Go to the online manual of your laptop and there should be a section on upgrading the hard drive (at least there was on the pdf for my 7010CT). This should show you how to remove your hard drive so you can see the physical size yourself.

Hope this helps.
