I opened up the bottom of my new Toshiba A45-S150 (HERE at BestBuy) and I saw underneath the heatpipe system was a ZIF socket lever. I assumed the P4 was soldered on, but I guess these guys can be popped in and out like any other.

So, is there a source for faster P4M procs? A glance at the Newegg online catalog didn't show any. This one is currently a 2.4GHz P4.

BTW--spend the extra $$ on the P4 versus the Celeron. The 2.4Ghz P4 blows the 2.8GHz Cel out of the water.

I can get you the 2.66GHz (Intel 2.66GHz P4, RK80532GE067512 SL724) for only $475! Realistically, I don't know if any significantly faster CPU's will come out that would be compatible. The next big speed increase will probably come from the Dothan core CPU's, after Intel gets good at making them.

I see. Thanks for the info. I was hoping it was going to be a bit more attainable than that.
