toshiba laptop cdrom stopped working

Hello,

I have a Toshiba Tecra 9000 laptop that comes with a dvd/burner. For some reason my cdrom stopped reading/writing data or music, but however it'll play dvds normally. Does this mean that my cdrom laser is somehow broken and that i must replace my cdrom? if i have to replace it, can anyone please tell me where i can find some inexpensive replacement for it? Thank you in advance.

If you're lucky, it is still in warrantee. In any case, you may get some good answers from the tech support number (if it exists).

I don't know if there's a cleaning kit for your unit, but that may help.
