Oh man, very nice. Just about what I'm looking for but I'm too poor at the moment.

hot hot.. but i already went for the Dell 8100 deal. I guess the Dell is worth it for the video card.

fixed rebate link!

noticed they had "01,02" (not "01.02") on another (working) toshiba rebate link. bingo.

if you go to the web-rebates.com link, you can "pre-certify" your rebate and, allegedly, speed it along.

ordered & thx infinitelight.

quick note for those "on the fence" who are put off by the listed 8m of
video ram:

latest intel drivers allow for 32m or 48m of video ram (depending on total
amount of system memory)

check it here

saw a google post that claims a 74% increase in q3 framerate, from a
playable 34fps to a decent (for $800 laptop!) 51fps with this driver set.

If anyone still has a 10% off one-time use coupon that amazon recently emailed out then this will be a really hot deal. Too bad I used it already last week on another order.

Is this really a good deal???? I can't decide if you should go for it or not. It's either this or the inspiron 4100, but that's an extra $400 at least...what should I do???

keep in mind that you will have to purchase a ethernet card and it has a Nimh battery not a lithium one which hurts battery life and Nimh battery's usually don't hold up as well but, for $799 after rebate it is hard to beat.

If I didn't want to game on the lappy I get I would definitely have no qualms about getting this laptop espically at that awesome price.

If your not gaming this laptop is OK. It is quite heavy for a laptop with a 14 inch screen. The Intel 830MG video is not very good. Even with sharing 48 MB of system ram it still scores worse than a 16MB dedicated video card in 3dMark 2002. The NiMh battery is not very desirable. Only a 15 MB harddrive. Basically for a non multimedia, non gaming, user on a budget it is a decent deal. But there is a reason it is so cheap. Don't worry KrayzyAzn you got a much better system with the 8100 deal for many more reasons than the video card. This Toshiba is not in the same league.

Does anyone know if this laptop has some form of video out so you can hook it to a tv to watch dvds?

<< I can't see an "Add to Cart" button >>

straight right from main title line (( " Toshiba Satellite 1005-S157 Notebook (1.06-GHz Celeron, 256 MB RAM, 15 GB hard drive)
" ))...
