Toshiba L735D-S3300 laptop just dead??

Long story short....

This is somewhat of a kids laptop bought for mother in law a couple years ago. It has since gone black screen death twice. First time toshiba said they replaced the HD. 2nd time they supposedly replaced a stick of ram.

I have pulled both. Put in 1 at a time, etc. etc. This thing won't even POST. Dashboard lights & fans come on but that's about it.

Any ideas or suggestions?

TIA

Do you get video if you hook up an external monitor?

If it's built like a 645D, there's only three parts that'd give you a black screen. The Motherboard, the LCD cable, and the LCD itself.

Nope, no video. (tried that).

And that's my fear, is that the motherboard is just dead. Reason I think so is that there is no HD activity showing at all on power-up, meaning that OS (Win7) is not getting initialized at all.

That ALSO, though, makes me suspicious of the 2 previous "repairs" by Toshiba. How in the world did they repair the exact same condition once with a new HD and the next time with a new stick of RAM?? (supposedly....of course they could be lying their arse off)

(shrug)

Probably just a overly simplified diagnostic flowchart. Motherboard failures can throw intermittent symptoms for a while before they go for good.

Is it still under warranty? 😀
