It is a celeron based laptop, I, think, bought about a year ago. It isnt mine, i am looking into this problem as a favor.
First off when I got it, it said hal.dll was damaged or missing, so I used the Toshiba restore cd to be able to get back into windows. It ran fine for about 1 hr.
Then I was watching a movie on it for about another hour and it randomly shutdown as if I had pushed the power button for a few seconds and rebooted (hard reboot I suppose).
then I started it up another few times and it kept shutting down (this time a lot shorter period than one hour).
So I figure its a heat thing, so the next day I put on hwmonitor from cpuid and ran superpi, sure enough it the laptop shutdown, but the cpu was only at a peak of 54 celcius with the fan only running intermittantly, which by the way blows out a healthy amount of air.
The only things I installed on it are some video codecs and avira...
Thankyou for your insight.
