Lowest Price I've seen for this so far. Picked one up myself. You need 100 miles to get it at this price (which is explained in the following steps).

1) Go to continental.com
2) Sign up for a OnePass account (it's free)
3) After you register, choose Earn Miles
4) Choose the Featured Partner offer, OnePass Magazines
5) Enter your OnePass number
5) For each dollar spent, you get 20 miles. The cheapest subscription I found was a $6 one to King Magazine.
6) After you place your order, your miles will show up from as fast as 3-5 days to as long as a month (closer to the former)

If you have Amex Membership Rewards points, you can convert those into miles to save yourself from this process.

After that's done, and you have the miles posted on your account....

1) Go back to the Continental main page
2) Choose Use Miles
3) Choose Non Travel Rewards
4) Choose Miles for Merchandise
5) Under DVD Players, you'll see the Toshiba HD-A1 available for $364 with free shipping.

****UPDATE*****

Amazon has the same player for sale (fulfilled through 3rd party) at $412 dollars. So if you don't want to wait on Backorders, or miles to be posted, this is a good deal. Plus, Amazon will also give you 10% off all HD-DVD disc purchases for a year. In the long term, this might prove to be the better deal.

Very nice, I may have to go for this. I will have to pass on the King magazine though, doesn't look like something my wife or work would approve of. :) They have Home Theater mag for $10, will probably do that.

This is an awesome deal, ordered it last week.
Please be advised that they are out of stock currently, the cs rep i spoke to said 3-4 wks.
Reports are that toshiba is pushing these out more each week so i dont expect an endless wait.

Also, netflix offers most of th hd dvds that are available now.

Got mine on Amazon for almost the same price shipped.

It's annoying slow to initialize on powerup, but the visuals are fantastic.
Recommended: Serenity, Pitch Black, Chronicles of Riddick (for you Sci-Fi fans).

Sucks, just bought mine from amazon and the next day after it was delivered I received a message from Continental stating that they had added my missing miles...oh well, it's a great player for the money (standard dvd's upconverted look much better than either my philips dvdsa963 or my upconverting samsung.

I just placed my order for a magazine and hope that my miles will transfer soon. I wasn't able to access the use miles screen to see this deal though. I made it past the Onepass User and Pin but the screen that asks for my name, zip code and e-mail address just hangs after I enter this info. Does anyone else have this problem?

Too bad it got delayed yet again, and it won't even be here by the holidays. Of course if you wait months upon months, there's always something cheaper. Plus, who knows what the quality of that player will be. The Toshiba has received excellent reviews.

What an incredibly stupid comment...what about those buying this player who neither own nor want a 360?

How is it stupid? If you don't own a 360, then the comment doesn't apply to you. DUH

This is still the best deal in town. Even if yer in one of the states with tax, it still beats the amazon price.
Only problem is the waiting. 10-14 business days is what the CS reps tell ya, and it seems to be all over the map on the actual times. Mine was relatively quick, but some ppl who oredered before i did are still waiting. I dont know if it had anything to do with the fact that i had my miles already, didnt have to earn or xfer any miles.

The quality of hd dvd is phenomenal. It really is much better than I expecetd. Ive been watching HD since 99, and this is the best quality image ive ever seen. The newer codec and much higher bandwidth give a super detailed image. No compression artifacts, just a pristine picture.. So far ive watched Serenity, Bourne Supremacy and Syriana. Its hard going back to regular dvds. (display is a 61in 1080p samsung dlp.)

Startup times are much better than what has been reported earlier. The new units come with firmware version 1.4 and its still not speedy, but not so agonizingly slow as the FW it launched with. Remote response is also very good.

As for the xb addon, core xb 299+ addon 200 = 499.. with no hdmi. (I will get one anyway since my plasma thats hosting the xbox doesnt have a free hdmi connection.)
So the xbox addon is still no cheaper than this deal.

Prison Break and Twin Peaks, both NON-HD DVDs, look absolutely phenomenal on this player on an HD TV due to upconverting. I'm sure many other DVDs look good too.

My most annoying problem with this player is that if I do not completely finish a movie, and wind up turning off my TV and doing something else for a little while, the player goes into "HDMI Error" mode and requires a complete power cycle to reboot and then you have to find your way to where you stopped. I am not used to this behavior and it's majorly annoying. I'm not sure if this is a firmware bug or an HDMI 'feature' as part of the standard. It does these even on non-HD movies and shows.
