Toshiba External Hard Drive issues

I have a Toshiba external hard drive. I backed up my computer with the software that came with it (BackupSoft.exe) and it stored my data into .RIM files. I then formatted my computer due to a Windows7 upgrade. I tried restoring the data with the software and it didn't work. I read online that BackupSoft.exe doesn't work with Windows7 so I tried taking it to my parents house since they still have Vista. Still no luck.

I know I should have just manually moved the folders to the drive (and luckily I was able to do that as well before formatting) but forgot to manually move one of the folders. The folder's information is on the drive, but its in an .RIM file that I can't open. How do I extract the files from the .RIM file?

Googling this issue has not been helpful. Thanks in advance.

Did back the folder up manually. Just took a while to find it. Moral of story: don't use backup software.

Lock it up! 🙂

That's why I always clone the drive - no restoration needed, all files are immediately accessible in their native format. A duplicate drive is immediately bootable if the source was bootable.
