Looks like a decent deal, let me know what you guys think.

Overstock has it for $99.00
Toshiba DVD

Use the $20 off $50 coupon from techbargains

And the shipping is free too.

You can also get specs on this drive at

It's a pretty good deal. But, if a DVD player is something you see yourself using a bit, the latest standard dvd speeds I've seen on the players is about 10x...

dvd speed shouldn't be a big factor in your buying descision...

i'm just checking to see if this baby is region free. :)

How can you tell it's region free?

What about the SD-M1402 model (12x/40x)? I might've found a decent deal on that one.

Thanks. I'll post the deal if it's decent.

I'm using Toshiba SD-M1202 with Hollywood + decoder and it works great. The DVD speed when over 5x is not very important but if it's your only CD drive then the CD speed (20x vs. 40x) may influence your decision. Mine reads ANYTHING and is region free. Sounds like a good deal. PC Liquidator has a Sony 5x with the holly.+ listed in a previous post.

Post the deal on the other Toshiba you found. It never hurts for people to have something to compare! =)

Thanks

This place has great prices and their delivery was excellent:D They have the Toshiba 1402 on "promo special" for $90.

CDC

Also check their reseller ratings... good too. Only bad things are Ca sales tax and shipping.

Storagereview has a comparison of the new Pioneer 16X drive which is the next closest thing. Sounds like the Toshiba might be as good or even better for audio. CDC also has the 16X Pioneer on special for $106 but it is not slot load.

Bought a Sound Blaster Live/ Value, Matrox G400, Toshiba CD-ROM and Lucent Win Modem from them.... all great prices.

I know people on here swear by Lucent modems but that thing gave me IRQ hell. Ending up having to swap it for the Shotgun ISA modem on my BH6. This worked out fine. My new Tyan Tiger just did not like the Lucent. Hurry up cable.

the 1402 isn't region free. rule of thumb, newer (10x and up) dvd drives are region locked. any deals on the 1302 out there?
