Toshiba DVD having problems

I am using Win 2000 and my Toshiba DVD model SD-M1502T drive works with some cd's but doesn't work with others it says drive e: cannot read data and some other error, and when I try to burn something and use it as a source it always says that. Has anyone had problems with them? Any help?

Try changing it's position on the IDE chain (and jumpers)
Cleaning it with an approved for DVD cleaning disk
Turning off or on any DMA option

Actually I have the same problem. It reads data cd's fine, but when i try to play a dvd it only goes to the main menu and doesn't want to play any of the chapters. In Power DVD I get an unreadable disk error (even though I put in a brand new - no scrathes dvd) in the ati dvd player it just hangs when you start to play the movie. I'm gonna put it in my other computer tonigh maybe it's a mobo issue.

Have same unit. After all my scanregw problems, decided to format & reinstall. Then tried
to copy Win98 off 2 different cd's to hard drv. Had problem reading cabs from both cd's.
After I have ecerything back together & my Plex back in, I'll try the cd's in that.
