Is the Toshiba DVD drive on newegg good/quiet?

Yes I have 4 of them, and they are all quiet drives. They perform very well.

Toshiba 16X DVD drive characteristics:
-very quiet
-excellent compatibility with CloneCD
-excellent data reading speed
-poor DVD ripping speed - only 2x
-mediocre DAE ripping (CD audio extraction) speed - about 8-9x average

Pick out what is important to you and decide. If you like to rip DVDs or CDs all day long, then this is definitely not the drive for you (Pioneer or Afreey would be better). If you enjoy a nice performing, reliable, quiet drive, and only occasionally do DVD or DAE, then this is, hands down, the best drive available.
