toshiba a65-s1062 laptop

purchased a a65-1062 last month at BestBuy, add states "DVD-RW Combo Drive", finally got around to checking it out last week and it has DVD-ROM/CD-RW. called BB and sales rep says DVD-RW does not always mean it reads/writes, huh??? So what does dvd-rw mean and what do you think BB's obligation is if any? Also this thing is slow, equal to my old IBM Aptiva 175 desktop, 380mhz AMD K6-2. any tips for improvement appreciated.

A wealth of information can be found via the search function, including this thread in the ATHD forum, where a number of users mention the very same dilemma (advertisement mentions DVD-RW, though the machine obviously was never slated to be sold with a DVD-RW).

The machine specifications (available from BestBuy Online and Toshiba) clearly state the machine includes a DVD/CD-RW. The advertisement was a misprint, and (as a number of users reported) BestBuy should be obliged to satisfy the customer in a case such as this.
