Okay. I have NFC what happened but last night I went to defrag my dad's PC using PErfect Disk 7 and like I always do I disable the Pagefile till the defrag is done then I reboot and make the page file so it's in one continous line on the HDD.

Problem : After the defrag was complete I went to restart the PC and all I got was a blinking " _ " after the Toshiba boot screen o_O

I can get the HDD to recognize under IBM's HDD utility using UBCD 3.4 and the HDD tests fine, I also get the HDD to recognize under the win XP install screen. I tried both running CHKDSK /r and I tried doing a repair ( upgrade ) install and as soon as the PC boots after loading the files it goes right to a the " Disk read error " and asks me to restart.

If anyone has any clues it's be nice to get this thing going within a week before my dads needs to take it to Iraq with him.

Update :

I can even get into windows using ERD Commander and it recognizes the HDD there as well. Tell me this ain't getting fucked up right about now o_O

Update :

Ran every ERD commander tool that could apply to repairing the file structure or whatever and still a no go, there has to be something wrong w the laptop itself that allows it to read but not properly boot from the HDD :-/

Update :

And yet it takes a fresh install :( Looks like I got a lotta software to re-install once windows is re-loaded :'(

I guess Perfect Disk 7.0 mis-placed or ruined a file. Thats a first for me :-/
