I've got an i8600 with one pcmcia slot

I thought I could slip in my 5GB Toshiba Type II PCMCIA card and install Windows 98.

The drive is not recognized at all, however.

Do I need some Win98 Dos level drivers or something? Where would I find those if that's what I need.

I thought I could boot into Win98 DOS from my USB flash drive, then run setup from the Win98 CD to install on the PCMCIA drive.

Any ideas? I"m stumped! :)

Thanks for replying.

No, I don't see it as a separate boot device. That may be a problem.... :)

Regarding your link - I think that's more specific for Toshiba laptops. I have a Dell i8600c...which doesn't appear to have a boot option for PCMCIA devices

Ah well.......guess I'll keep looking for drivers or something....

Does your Bios let you choose one of these
"AutoSelect vs CardBus vs PCIC Modes"?
Dell may not let you change the setting.:(
