Size:
The size isn't an issue for me, my old school inspiron was a bit bigger I believe, the toshiba is a bit heavier but who cares?
Fans:
I didn't experience any of the fan noise people have complained about, as a matter of fact it was very quiet but let's keep in mind, this is a desktop processor.. it's going to get hot, so if fans have to kick on to keep it cool.. that's fine with me.
Battery life:
Not that great, but again .. this is a powerhouse machine with a desktop p4 and a beefy graphics card, not to mention that sound system.. the battery life is on par with what I'd expect with the type of system this is. Don't forget you can tweak the power settings to run it at 1.2ghz, you will extend your battery life this way and it still plays medal of honor at highest resolution/detail settings nicely.
Display:
What can I say about that display? it's impressive! super sharp, not as bright as my dell flat screen I have on my desktop, but much sharper! excellent graphics for gaming, though I only tried 2 titles so far.
Sound system:
I had 2 friends over and when I played an mp3 they were blown away, the sound system is superb! the best I have *ever* heard on a laptop system.
Windows media center:
I was very impressed with this part of the OS, I was able to use it just like a tivo system, pause live TV, replay, record.. even with just 40 gigs free, it had 15 hours of record time on high quality.. I plan to use this feature often! one of my friends owns a tivo and he was impressed.
I won't be able to play with wireless until I get my access point today, but all in all I'm very impressed with the system! for those talking down about it because of battery life and fans.. etc.. let's not forget what this machine was made for..
1. Gaming (let's be honest.. )
2. Media/PVR
3. DESKTOP REPLACEMENT
It's mobile enough for what it does, if you want mobility to the point that you can use it for 7 or 8 hours straight without an outlet, get something else.. this is not for you 🙂
