Toshiba 51" Projection HDTV Monitor - $899.99 *

So.. this TV is listed in the black friday section for 900 bucks, and seems like an amazing deal..

I was wondering if some TV buffs out there know the pros and cons on this tv?

Many Thanks!

The first thing is that there is no tuner.

Other than that this is a great deal and keep in mind stores will only have a few of them. So unless you get in line at 1 AM and KNOW eaxactly where to grab it or the "card" you won't be getting one.

Considering how little desire most people have to use an OTA antenna again, the lack of tuner probably won't matter. If you use OTA in combination with HD satellite, it still won't matter.

If it really goes on sale for $900, that is a very good deal.

I worked/work there so I can tell you its not that great. Its an ok deal if you just want a large screen TV but it is a standard RP unit that will not have great clarity and brightness. If you are looking for high quality picture look elsewhere.

What's your pick for best low cost/big screen deal, then?

Like I said, if you just want a low cost big screen then this is a good deal. Just know you will not have the perfect geometry, brightness, and all the other features newer designs of sets provide. However, if this will be in a dark/dimly lit room, and you will be facing it fairly straight on, its a good choice

Sounds like many women I've known. So, essentially you're saying, 5-6 beers will help?

That would make it look like real life!

You might wanna wait until Black Friday.

The Best Buy BF scans were just leaked and posted somewhere on the intarweb 😉

I think I saw a big screen HDTV for $899.

There are many people who would disagree concerning the clarity and brightness. A properly calibrated RPTV can look just as good as any others on the market... they just need more setup.

If you want a cheap HDTV with a high quality picture, Sony is the only way to go IMO. I thought all of the other brands had washed out looking pictures. I got a 46" Sony RP HDTV for $999.

Where did you check out the other TVs? A BB or CC or something?

Numerous electronics stores, yes.

I am not saying ALL RP...just old CRT based ones. Convergence is a pain and is very difficult to get close to perfect. Many RP sets are great, but they use much newer tech.

Holy nutsack.
Going to be $1499.

42" Plasma HDTV for $1499 is a good deal but it's Magnavox!
