$990 for an analog 4x3 set? IMHO you could get an HD 4x3 set for the same price. You can go to wally world or sams club and get an inexpensive HD set for under a grand

I got an Infocus X1 projector and 70" inch screen for less than $1000. I love this projector. Outstanding for DVD, HDTV and even pretty decent for regular cable TV. For reference, a 70" screen measured horizontally is an 87" diagonal screen in 4.3 stardard TV format! I also have a portable 50" screen (62" diagonal) and I can packup my projector in screen in a couple of minutes and bring a movie theater to someone elses house. Just keep in mind that this is projector, so like a movie theater, you need a dim room. It also doesn't have a TV tuner or much of a sound system, so you use your VCR and DVD player to get the signal to the projector. Expect to pay about $50 extra for good cables.

I still use my regular 30" TV for casual TV viewing, especially during the daytime.

I also ordered the Infocus projector, but am thinking about cancelling it due to the complaints of the rainbow effect, where did you get the screen?

I take it that it's a DLP?

I got one, so far I love it. It is a DLP projector and I can see rainbow sometime in dark scenes. But very infrequently. Infocus has a demo program and you can keep a demo unit for 10 days. No charge and they pay for shipping.

About how much space do you need between the projector and the screen to get the 70" display? I'd love to do this, but I'm worried that I don't have enough room to make it practical. Also, what are you looking for as far as price for bulb replacement when one goes out? thanks for any info you can offer.
