this question is highly fact specific to my laptop. i have a toshiba 3000-s353, running win98SE, 383MB of ram.
the problem is the Toshiba AMR soft-modem. i am getting horrendous connection rates, often times below 14.4k using my MSN dial-up account. i have ruled out the possibility of problems originating with the dial-up, the phone jack, or home phone line because when i switch the exact same phone cord from desktop to my Toshiba 3000, i get 14.4 connection. when the phone cord is connected to my desktop system (same ISP, same phone jack, same phoneline), i CONSISTENTLY get rates higher than 50k
if you are a toshiba 3000 owner and are experiencing the same issue and have a means to resolve it please advise.
