I've heard the record in holding out against being interrogated by the Spetznaz (sic) is 15 minutes. OTOH, after they interrogate someone, they arent going to (want to) make it to the trial, anyway
 
I think part of the issue is the United States position as a leader of human rights in the civilized world. If we condone torture, regardless of the stipulations, will that, or can that, irreparably harm our status?

Depends on the definition of torture. Sleep deprivation leading to them no longer knowing the repercussions of giving us data is fine, IMO.
