I've had 2 MIMO routers. One from Netgear and one from Zyxel (550).

Every time I get on torrent, it knocks my wireless connection within the hour. It's a huge pain to fix since cometimes I need to go into the setup to get things working again.

Any suggestions for settings, etc that would help with these cheap routers?....

First thing off the top of my head to try would be to limit your download and upload speeds on torrent.

I would read the FAQ's for your specific torrent client and routers.

I was having problems running either mIRC and Azureus from my WinXP 64 bit edition....tried all sorts of stuff. Then just moved the apps to a normal XP PC and it was cool. But in the process of troubleshooting and reading guides I made several tweaks to my Linksys router running dd-wrtv23. which I think in the long run helped my download speeds.

The thing about these types of networks is that it makes quite a few connections, and can maintain those for long times. May be attributing to your wireless having issues.

Besides limiting your speeds, how about limiting the number of connections your client software makes?

Agreed. I used to have the exact same problem, and I had convinced myself it was my ISP --annoyed at the constant bandwidth I was using-- doing something to kill my connection. But after limiting the number of TCP connections the problem stopped. Try this article. Throttling your connection (uTorrent has a speed limiter by default, and there's a plugin for Azureus) will also help.
