torrent clients can cause driver routine probs?

Hi
Both me and my brother have had troubble with our computers when using torrentclients, mainly azureus. My computer (acer aspire 1300 late 2002) refused to start upp after some use. When win was about to start a blue screen with white text flashed and the computer restarted making it impossible to start win. The problem dissapeared after reinstalling win (xp).

On my brothers machine (AMD atlon + Asus A8N-E) the driverroutines for the motherboard appeared to be wrong. The motherboard then ceased to work.

Does anybody know about this problem? What can one do to ake sure hardware is not damaged when running filesharing progs?

I've never heard of torrents causing a computer a hardware failure. It's possible that a hardware failure occured due to the system overheating or something of the sort, there are many variables as to why but I'm pretty sure that torrents wouldn't cause the system DIRECTLY to fail, maybe MAYBE! Indirectly.
