We are under a tornado Warning in Faribault, MN SO OF COURSE they interupt my wife's TV show and now we are all in the basement.

We just got through a Severe Thunderstorm Warning a couple hours ago in Windom, MN.
Didn't get too much, just strong winds and some heavy rain. Lasted all of 30 minutes.

Okay, you need to check into rehab once the tornado passes.

It is not normal, nor healthy, if you decide to post on ATOT during a tornado warning. Even if the computer is in your basement (Please dont tell me you brought a laptop down there with wireless internet)

It's just a warning, fortunately you haven't been through one :|

And yes, first it passed under Yellow medicine county, went to lincoln and lyon county... and then kept moving... We saw it on our local radar dealy mabobber when it was in south dakota... damn big cell

COmputer is in the Basement But I had to go up and finish cooking dinner! I was REALLY HUNGRY. The rain and lightning has really slowed down so It may be safe to go do the dishes but I ain't risking it😉

/me has learned not to worry about tornado warnings.

Reason:

Sometime last year, we had just gotten a light sprinkle of rain. The rain had moved on and the sky was completely blue. While we're trying to watch a baseball game, suddenly one of those emergency alert screens came up announcing rather prominently:

ALERT ALERT ALERT
TORNADO WARNING
COUNTIES AFFECTED:
(my county)
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 7:34 PM
Someone had reported a touchdown about 15 miles east of where I live. It was later determined to be nothing.

So here's the deal: if you get a tornado warning, look outside. If it looks like a fairly nasty storm is coming (i.e. huge fvcking cloud with lightning shooting out of it) you should find some shelter. If it's clear outside, or if the aforementioned ominous cloud isn't heading your way, ignore it.

Basement, what's that?

<- lives in California 🙂

A crawl space you can walk in😉

My basement is half finished and I have my computers and a TV downhere so it wasn't like we were huddling in the corner.😀

The paper this morning said we had a couple of touchdowns near here and warnings were issued. Guess I should've had the TV on. 🙂

It seems like we get tornado warnings twice a week in Kansas.....It's bad to say, but I think most of us don't even pay attention to them anymore we get them so often.
