how loud would a case with, say 5 vantec tornados be? whats a good comparison (dont say jet taking off)? im guessing it would sound like a desk fan.

That's probably pretty accurate considering my one tornado and 4 80mm sunon's are close to that now. Strangely enough my case will actually hover as long as I don't have my UPS sitting on it 😛

Thnat reminds me.. if I cut off the temperature sensor from a fan and just connect the wires, will it run at full speed?

Not if the fan is thermally controlled through the bios.
