Two seperate tornadoes on the ground in East Alabama. Have caused significant damage near Wilsonville and damage near Lincoln/Pell City(site of Honda plant). Now there is ANOTHER tornado warning for my county to the North. About 12-13 warnings are going on right now. Multipile counties with multiples tornadoes that have caused damage, on the ground or radar indicated. VERY long day so far with more in store for this afternoon and tonight.

New Report- Very Bad. Tornado in Alpine is taking everything in its path. It is destroying everything near it. Words from the NWS: Tornado on the ground taking everything in its path and causing massive and extreme damage. Wow.

Major flooding in North Birmingham. A list of roads cannot even be show on TV because it is too large. A majority of roads in Northern Birmingham are closed or under water. Reports of 7-10 inches of rain from ONE storm.

It's sort of funny, but I actually miss tornado season now that I've left the midwest. I miss the storms, the thunder, the lightning and the eerily quiet periods before something really nasty blows in.

I miss the green clouds, the "silent" wind, and the wailing sirens.

Is your house still on wheels? Is your car on blocks in the front lawn?

If so you're probably in danger.

You have a storm cellar?
I've never witnessed a tornado for real. Scary stuff.

Unfortunately our city has dismantled our AirRaid/Tornado sirens.

It was way cool when they went off for no apparent reason.

No tornado cellar. My area is not currently under the gun. If a tornado is near my area it is a short(i.e. two minute drive) to my place of safety which is the underground area of a large building complex.

Green clouds? Can someone please explain that phenomenon to someone from California?

Try a search. It is one of the coolest thing's you'll ever see on the weather. Many times before a tornado (the ones that I've watched) the sky gets an errie green hue to it and the cloudls look like they are bubbling from underneath.

I'll try to find something but it really is incredibly cool.

Generally if I'm watching a storm and it turns green I know I'm in for a treat because the storm will be <cartman> hella-wicked.

Are you referring to underground parking, millennium, at riverchase galleria? It's not really underground though so are you talking about somewhere else?

Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with tornados but I'm just totally ignoring these alarms now. I drove to the gym and worked out. If they're going to play them every day there's no point! In all honesty I do check the news every 30 min or so while they're going off but have gained an appreciation for the localized nature of tornados and know that if it's 50 miles north it might as well be in another country, unless they say it's specifically headed this way.

Somewhere else. The insurance company where my cousin works. They have an underground parking area. While I wouldn't ignore the warning, it is just that there hasnt' been anything south of Downtown today. In fact, it is shocking that the Hoover area has been spared so much lately. Normally there is tornadoes south of Bham at least once every year or so. Maybe every two years.

Pictures really don't do the colors of the sky justic. I'm still trying to find some to post. It's a phenomenon you have to experience first-hand to truly appreciate it.
