Torn deciding what mobo to go with

Building a new core 2 duo rig. Was planning on the Asus p5b at $120 but I would like firewire and I'm afraid the northbridge cooling might not be sufficient? I only need 1 PCI-X slot and don't care about raid. 5+ sata...need a good mobo for overclocking and want to spend between 100-150 about. Any suggestions?

Also was checking out the new DFI...dunno what to go with though.

thinking of ASUS P5B-Plus LGA 775 Intel P965...has what I need and I believe OC's well.

O yea remembered why I was slightly turned away 12.0"x 9.0". I don't understand where that .6" went...and some people said then it isn't fastened right.

DFI usually offers alot more OCing features. I'd say if you are a serious hardcore OCer go DFI and if arent serious but want good OC go ASUS. You could let cost be the deciding factor and just by the cheaper one. DFI usually has active cooling fan on their mobos. Not sure if their version does this time or not. Personally I prefer heatpipes but thats just me. Mobo fans tend to go bad after a while or are just plain noisey.

neither have heatpipes, I think I'm gonna go with the DFI. I can always upgrade the northbridge cooling if I want to.

Out of the two you mentioned, I'd take the DFI no questions asked.

However, with P35 Bearlake boards coming out now, you really aught to be thinking about these to give yourself the Penryn upgrade path. In addtion, the P35 mobos offer better memory bandwidth and overclock as well or better than P965s. Check xtremesystems forum for members in Europe who already have their hands on these -- like the Asus P5K ($150ish) and P5K Deluxe ($225ish)
