Torn between OS's I need some opinions

I posted this in OS forum, but I want some OT opinions.
I have 2k pro right now, but I got the XP upgrade from Dell.

I run 2k and linux on this machine dual boot, but I was wondering if XP is worth the hassle. Is it really worth the two hours of crap for it, performance wise?

WinXP is a no go for me. I'm sticking with Win2k Pro for now. After a week of using XP I went back to Win2k

xp literally makes me feel insulted by MS even more than i already do. i am not a little kid and i dont need my OS to look like plastic (for those that say it looks like OSX....wtf are you talking about? XP is fugly), also i dont need MS to babysit me to make sure they get their money. Whatever, i'm just bitching about MS.....XP seems to have lots of problems w/ drivers right now, especially nvidia cards.

Perhaps you should explain *why* you think the upgrade is worth it...

From what I've noticed of XP:
- it's slower
- it's as stable as 2k
- it's more user friendly (which i don't like - I like having "control" over an OS)
- the crayola interface is retarded
- not all hardware has xp drivers yet
- the gaming software compatibility is lacking

basically, I think you should wait until SP2 is released - that's when Win2k became a good OS.

I like 2k, if all the important apps that you have support xp then why not give it a shot and make your own decision. Windows XP Professional: Check Compatibility

khtm thinks its slower, i havent used it enough to notice, although my friends computer now skips playing mp3's quite a bit whereas in ME it did not. of course thats not to say that ME is better (oh god no!) but xp may be a bit slower than 2k, either way its not much of a difference, anand did an article on XP speed a while ago, go look on the main site.

oh and w/ a 2Ghz P4 i doubt youre gonna notice a diff.

I have chosen to wait for a while, until a service pack comes out, or I install it on another machine, I do not want to damage my perfect running system with some bloated POS, from what I have heard, XP is just fisher price
