On BBCA tonite at 9 pm Eastern.

The other Torchwood thread is full of discussions of the mini series for those in the UK who have seen it, or those who have *ahem* managed to *acquire* it by *other* means.

If you are like me and are looking forward to watching it for the first time starting tonight, this thread is for you.

PLEASE NO SPOILERS.

the commerical is reallllly annoying. I dont know what its about besides "children shutting down and then attacking everyone"

so, if you are turning 18 the next day, it will control you, but the next day you are ok?

and then hearing those kids saying " we are... we areeee heerree" with many kids voices

Didn't see the doctor thing coming. Whatever happened in 1965 must have really been something to set the government off on a killing spree.
I wonder who the new receptionist really is. Is she just curious or is she a plant?
And Captain Jack is a daddy?

Just finished watching Day Two, and it was as excellent as Day One. That receptionist HAS to be a plant... She's too good! She's either a UNIT operative or going to be a future member of the Torchwood crew.

Been ok so far.

I guess I'm saying "excellent" because the production quality here has been far better than the Torchwood of past seasons. It's been keeping my interest.

Since Capn Jack can't die they had to have some other way to put him in peril so the series came up with locking him up in a grave, and they carried the idea further in this mini by encasing him in concrete.
I didn't see Ianto coming!

Well, now that it's over, it was pretty powerful.
Especially when Frobisher offs his family and himself.
It was a pretty bleak mini series showing human beings at their worst most times, but also sometimes at their best.
Jack killing his grandson to save 10 percent of the worlds children? Wow.

One thought not brought up is that if they wanted the kids as drugs, and the 456 already broke their word from 1965 and came back, then wouldn't it be assumed they would return when they needed more kids again and again?

I can't recall if the people knew exactly that the 456 wanted to use the kids as drugs.
They knew that they wanted the kids, but I don't think they knew exactly what for.

I had a lot of trouble believing the story...the idea that all the countries (or even most) would agree and actually be able to collect most of the children is ridiculous...and I certainly don't see it being feasible in the US with the population being heavily armed.

if everything go well, the 4th season will start if season 3 (Children of Earth mini series) is well received.

I really didn't care for the last episode. Overall I would have liked to have learned more about the actual aliens themselves. I think a better ending would have been to have let Jack offer himself up to the aliens in place of the kids , he lives forever so perpetual source of chemicals, then Gwen having to make the choice to use Jack's son, she is pregnant so the conflict their would have been perfect, especially since she was struggling earlier about why have a child in a world like that. Then while Jack is with the aliens they start to try to transport themselves away when Gwen uses the boy to destroy them . They are destroyed and Jack is nowhere to be found , leaving it a cliff hanger as to where Jack went.

I thought it was very good overall. I've never watched the Show(I believe there's a Series?) so didn't know what to expect, so it took me awhile to adjust to it. Once I got past that it just got better and better. Some of the scenes were very emotional, such as Frobisher finally doing something Humane(Murder/Suicide) and of course Jack sacrificing his Grandson.

As for the whole Drugs/Kids issue, I thought the story was quite clear that the kids produced chemicals that were pleasant for the Aliens. Though they didn't address the idea that the Aliens would probably just keep coming back for more, I think the fact they wanted 10% of the Children was a big enough shock that worrying about whether they'd return or not was far down the list of Worries.

As for all Countries agreeing to it. Why is that hard to believe? You got an Enemy you can't even Target/Find and is clearly far more Technologically Advanced. I could possibly see some Countries wanting to at least attempt a stand, perhaps hope that the Alien Ship becomes visible during an Attack that can be Targeted, but even then you take the risk of elimination, so it seems to me that the only real course of action is to comply. At least you exist for another day and by doing so have the opportunity to fight back at some future time when you have developed the means to Defend yourself.

The only real glitch would be getting 10% on such short notice successfully. The whole School Bus scene got me to thinking though, it wouldn't surprise me if the amount of Kids Bussed to school exceed 10% in most Western Countries, so that seems feasible. Civil unrest may or may not be a problem during the Operation, but certainly would be soon afterwards. That would be the price to pay though. One has to remember though, the General Public did not know what was going on, other than their Children were getting all creepy.
