I installed the latest version, but when I went to one of those "check my IP" type sites, it showed the same IP weather it was running or not. Any idea what's going on?
 
Could it be this?

"Tor only protects Internet applications that are configured to send their traffic through Tor — it doesn't magically anonymize all your traffic just because you install it. We recommend you use Firefox with the Torbutton extension." -- from the Tor page.
 
Oh boy, getting complicated 🙂

Can I install Firefox separately from my normal IE?
And what is meant exactly by "applications"?

BTW latest Tor n' company software.
