That only applies if everyone is playing by the rules. If a certain entity owns most of the servers on the Tor network, they know what you are doing.
It is also pretty slow.

That said, if you can live with those (and some other) limitations, Tor isn't that bad.

I wrote a blog post about this so-called "privacy." It's not. Get a VPN without port forwarding and disable WebRTC.

Also, I block Tor. A lot of spammers use it.

I recently started messing around with Tor. It's actually pretty neat. You still have to treat it like what you're doing is being watched, but it makes it hard to trace it to you specifically if you are smart about it. Ex: don't login to ANYTHING, EVER through tor. If you want to use anything account based make a separate account/personality.

The more people that run relays and exit nodes the better, as it's safe to assume the NSA and other bad guys are running some too. An exit node operator can pretty much sniff all the traffic as if they were at your router, except, they don't know where it's actually coming from, so there's still and added benefit.

VPN works well too, or both. Connect to tor through a VPN. You'll never make it impossible to track you, but you'll make it harder.

I'll probably setup a relay at some point. I want to look into Hyperboria too, which is a meshnet/darknet network.

I thought about setting up a Tor exit node just to grab all the data and see what people were doing. LOL

Having your IP blacklisted isn't fun, and there is no easy way to clear it up.
People don't care if you are 'helping' people with the exit node, they just see tons of spam coming from your IP address, and they cut you off from lots of things.

Yeah if you setup an exit node probably best to do it on a VPS that you used bitcoin or a prepaid CC or something to pay for. Basically you don't want it easily traceable back to you.

I can change my IP address in a heart beat. Do it all the time.
You will eventually run out of the pool of addresses assigned to your area, or your ISP stops you.

Yeah, this is a better idea, but, not sure who is going to spend extra $$$ so people can leach their bandwidth.
