FWIW, in HS I was popular and more than once used my "social status" to step in and stop or at least temper the most egregious examples of bullying those least able to fight back, just because the spectacle was sickening me and no one else had the simple presence of mind to step up and say something.

You'd be surprised how effective "moral suasion" can be at times, even with troglodytes.

This.

Also...LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!

It's funny, Kevin, but everytime I see that emo on YouTube, I reflexively think of you.

How much mascara do you normally wear, sweetie?

I try to put on at least a tube or two every time I do a video.

So that really was you! Damn...

Your level of perception is absolutely astonishing.

Actually, I was bullied by this guy in the first two years of HS, ended up kicking his ass and bullying him for the next four. I'm not proud of it, but I'm also not ashamed.

Nah, i know EXACTLY how you feel, and you gotta admit, each time you think back, it brings a smile on your face..

Who would want to bully me? I was univerally admired in my HS. The women all wanted to date me and the guys all wanted to be me. They all moved out of my way when I walked down the hallways. Everyone watched me where ever I went. As I passed I could hear them whispering about all my great traits. They had a special bus just for me, and I guess I can understand why it had to be shorter then the others, it would have been unfair to reserve a full sized bus just for me. By the time I was a senior they even had a special room just for me, with clean white padded walls.

Ahhhh, the special walls (and jacket and other neat restraints) . . . sure signs of status and esteem!

Nearly every interaction I had in grade school was the receiving end of bullying (not physical) and the teachers never did anything to stop it. My parents pulled me out of school in 6th grade after four years that I look back and remember as very lonely and isolated. They homeschooled me and that exposure to other ages and ways of thinking really helped me start to heal up. It took til mid/late high school for me to start forming real friendships with anyone in my direct peer group though. You wouldn't know it now; I'm the social organizer with friends and the friendly diplomat at work.

Bullying was never a problem for me. There were some always idiots trying to be bullies in elementary, middle, and high school, but I had friends who always had my back. I've never even seen extreme bullying where one kid would get beat up all the time or have his stuff stolen all the time. People would either fight, or they wouldn't.

I was bullied by a couple guys in elementary school, mostly emotionally. I did try to fight back once and I got beaten up pretty quickly - however, the one guy I fought didn't continue to beat on me once I was down.

I received some emotional bullying in high school, at least in the first couple years. By my senior years, I actually made friends with the guys who bullied me. We've since gone our separate ways, although I did reconnect with one of the guys last year and we hung out a few times.

Yes, I was bullied while I was in 7th and 8th grade... amusingly enough, the people are now my friends . Most of it stopped during 9th grade or so as I became more popular with the "in crowd." There was this one kid that still tried to a bit, but I think his problem was more relating to needing someone to take his frustrations out on and he knew regardless of what happened, I wouldn't fight back as I don't like hurting people .

Oh and no, I never bullied anyone physically.

I did technically because the high school and junior high are combined, so I was there from 7 through 12 (although technically not a high school student until 9th grade).

I was bullied in 5th-7th grade and it affected me for the rest of my life. Because of it, I had no confidence to play any public sports, was afraid of crowds, and to this day hate any kind of conflict. I didn't have a big turn around until I was 25.

Bullys do a lot more damage than people think.

I got messed with some in middle school (6th-8th grade), nothing major, the biggest thing that ever happened was a kid and his bitch who harassed the shit out me during math class. Teacher never did anything and any time I retaliated I was the one who was in trouble because I was one of the "bright kids" who should know better, he and his bitch once knocked me onto the floor and later started prank calling my house, after that I had him transferred to another math class and his bitch quieted down without his protector. (THe transferred dude also ended up getting me and him suspended for a day prior to this, lol).

But, not a big deal as in middle school, pretty much everyone was a super shit-bag (even I did some things that I am not proud of). It didn't help that I was a minority in several ways either or that I was fairly new to the area.

Elementary school was fine, so was high school.
