I need to come up with a good topic on a persuasive speech. I got some good ideas from ya'll on my last post. Right now I'm thinking of talking about the "holocausts" of the world (metaphorically speaking) but I dunno. I think this would be kinda depressing and boring. I don't necessarily wanna talk about anything computer related either. Then I thought I might do a speech on insanity, I thought that would be pretty cool but what would I persude?

I'm just tryin' to get suggestions. I've already picked what my topic is going to be about; but I'm pretty sure she'll let me change it. What do you guys think? What would be something interesting to persude to a class room of people?

That genetical engineering crap. You know, the one where genes from another woman's egg is transplanted into the genetics of the mom and dad... I'll be back with the news link in a jiffy.\

I once did mine on making it legal or illegal to sell/buy body parts.

Pick a controversial topic and argue the underdog side. It would be a challenging speech and would keep the audience interested.

For example:

Why smoking SHOULD NOT be banned from public places.

Why prayer in school is a good thing.

Why zero tolerance rules in public schools are wrong.

Your teacher will be impressed with your chutzpah for wanting to discuss the issues.

I think you should make a persuasive speech about how all hot girls should go out with nerdy/geeky guys....

If you go with the insanity theme, you can try to persuade your audience as to whether or not insane people require care, can be cured, or whether or not it is caused by chemical imbalance, etc.

How about gay marriages? Be on the pro side. There are tons of good points on that one on the web.

DAM - I was thinking about that (and I agree with you) but she said try to stay away from VERY picky subjects (such as that one)

Viper GTS - lol :)

Mwilding - hmm, zero tolorance rule...interesting! I'll think about it and see if I can get real far (gotta make it atleast a 5 minute speech)

Here are the basic requirements. 5 minutes long and I need to quote sh*t from 3 (or 5? I forget) sources in my speech. That's basically it. I'll be looking into Mwilding's idea and see if I can make it last/find any articles (from respectable websites--they can't just be from any). I'm still open to suggestions if anybody has any more.

Find some news articles for elementary students suspended for bringing aspirin to school or kids getting in trouble for having a pen knife in their car. Lots of GREAT examples available in the regular press.

Good Luck.

If you are looking for a quote, how about:

<< Stop the Insanity! >>

Granted Susan Powter is the devil, but the quote is still relevant ;)

I almost was ready to do a speech one to persuade ppl not to have their kids circumcised. The applies to the US only, ofcourse, as we are the only modern country that circumcised a majority of its children.
