I've found a site online that sells used squad/security cars, but they are in ohio and would cost an additional $400 to get the car sent to me. Anyone know of any places in the North Texas area that i can check out?

plus anyone up for a get together?? look below.

You'll probably find them at county auctions and the like. That's where you go for them here in NY.

My sister works at a small car dealer and they have a contract with the city to sell their retired squads. I would check out the used car dealers in your area and ask any of them if they know where you can find retired squad cars.

Call DPD & ask for the motor pool, ask what they do with their old squad cars.

I'd look for a DART car myself, they don't look so used up & I think they use police prepped autos...

iirc KDFW did a story about a month or two ago talking about Bolton purchasing an assload of new cruisers and putting some out to retire. I don't know who auctions them off but there's bound to be a buttload of them if they haven't gotten rid of all of them

Hmm, a RWD well equiped car with lots of space(for the kiddos) and can be had for ~$3K with less than 100K miles on them. All have been serviced and kept up, and if parts do break, they all use common easily obtainable and cheap parts.

And with about $1500 in parts you can go from the LT1 to an LT4 that is putting out about 400hp to the crank

True, but think about what they were used for, mostly in town driving, stop and go, and a lot of flooring (to catch up to speeders). At least have it checked out beforehand by a mechanic.

Justin was talking about taking a basic intro to handguns class at some gun training site in Plano.....I hate to say it but I've never shot a firearm before and it's $85 for 4 hours - 2 in class, 2 shooting, includes gun rental and everything. You'd probably be pretty bored though Moose - I'm sure you could teach the class or something :) I wouldn't mind hitting up Speed Zone
