Top tier 7850 availability at Newegg?

What's up with the availability on the 7850's at Newegg? Is there some kind of pcb change going on or something? Been trying to get my hands on a DCII or the Sapphire/MSI premium cards for awhile.

Should I keep waiting or just snag a cheaper card and throw an aftermarket cooler on it?

I would be all over a 7850 from MSI or gigabyte too if they were available. My last 4 GPUs have been from them and they were real performers with really good custom coolers.

I don't know how good this card is as I haven't seen much written about it other than the people on anandtech and newegg complaining about the fan quality/noise, but there are always going to be a few complainers. It looks spiffy and has a significant factory OC so Gigabyte is presumably confident in its cooling ability... comes with free game too. I would look at professional as well as user reviews of the card and see what they have to say. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125419

Seems to cool well: http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/gigabyte_hd7850_oc_windforce_review,9.html but no noise benchmarks
Much complaining about noise, in the comments: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5705/amd-radeon-hd-7850-launch-recap

That's definitely the one I would snag if I didn't wait for the DCII or other. I just really wanted a DCII for the flexibility options with OC'ing.

If I get too impatient and pull the trigger on it, I'll try to give an unbiased, whine-free review 🙂

Sure, I imagine Amazon or elsewhere has no problem accepting over $300 in Newegg gift cards.

Not all of us have loads of cash to dispense at our every whim. I'm actually a college student with about $1.23 to my name right now.

Oh, and $300 worth of Newegg cash I didn't realize I could spend elsewhere.

Supply of Asus cards and some of the MSI premium cards seems to be worse than others quite often. Could be there is that much higher demand. Could also be because when you buy you don't just buy graphics cards. Newegg might need to sell more of other product from Asus/MSI before they can place another order. Mobo's, laptops, for example.

Let me pull out the Violin. You think youre the only person to ever goto college? I did it, countless others did it. If you're that poor you don't need to buy a new video card

Don, stop being an ass. This is a technical forum.

Are you dense or what? He said in the 3rd post in the thread he has Newegg giftcards to spend.

I'm not whining because I'm broke. Getting a little irritated with the "buy elsewhere" comments though. I have giftcards and MUST use them to buy the card because I don't have the cash to buy the card elsewhere.

Thank you for actually reading the thread, lol.

OP, I have this one and it's an amazing card. Really silent and as fast/faster than a 580.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at this one too. I'm not really super picky, but I definitely want an MSI/Sapphire/Asus card, so I'll keep an eye out for this one too.

Thanks, this is really the type of answer I was looking for when I made the thread.

Sorry, missed the post about gift cards.

You could always sell your gift cards and buy somewhere else. But, I guess that is the wrong direction if you are broke.

Sapphire seems to supply the most 7850's. I have been tracking them for awhile now and just got my non-OC sapphire 7850 installed the other day. Got it from tigerdirect.

Newegg seemed to be out of sapphires more then amazon and tigerdirect for some reason. MSI stock has been low everywhere. Asus wasn't that hard to find at other retailers.

No hard feelings, I guess I shouldn't be such a hypocrite as I often find myself staying up late at night studying and letting my reading comprehension go down the toilet, lol.

I was mostly just trying to see if anyone knew any reason why Newegg seemed to be out of everything but the lower-end (IMO anyways) cards when other places seemed to have good stock, or at least some stock.

Sucks I'm limited to just Newegg. Selling the GC's might be an option if the upper end 7850's don't return by the end of the week. Worst case scenario they come back in stock while I try to sell, lol.

If you have not done so already, be sure to have NewEgg notify you when the GPU's you are interested are back in stock. It let me know when both Sapphires and the MSI was back in stock last week. I was able to get in there and order the Sapphire before they were out of stock again.

MSI twin frozr is in stock right now at the egg if you are interested! I added 28 to my cart, so they appear to have stock.

Snagged one 🙂

DCII people get ready, the way my luck always works, it'll come back in stock the day my MSI ships, LOL.
