Damn I guess it was inevitable this would happen given the laws of physics. Just enough energy to push it to the very crest of the hill, not enough to push it over and balanced just right so it won't roll back. I rode this back in 04 (and Kingda Ka at GA this year) and we were the 2nd car on after an hour long shutdown. We had a rollback...I thought it was friggin awesome...g/f will never ride a coaster with me again.

man, I must really have cars on the brain. I was expecting a video of a top fuel dragster and wondering why it would be running on a hill.

:D

What a view! I wish I'd been on that one! I've been to the point at least twice a year since '68 and ride this thing all the time. Looks like all it took was a friendly hand to get it movin' again.

With that ride, it isn't a rarity for it to get stuck at the top.

It took me literally 4 visits to Cedar Point until I could ride it because everytime I went, there was the standard long line, but they would have like 5 sucessful runs then failure (which takes about 20-30 min to fix), so it really sucked waiting.

AMAZING ride though. It's over before it even starts.

Wow. Sitting and waiting to hurl down must be much worse than the actual descent to the bottom.

That's the best amusement park ride ever, but like others have said, you will wait a long time to ride it, especially if it gets stuck while you are waiting, which happened to me too. I am wondering why the designers made the decision to not give it a stronger launch motor or whatever, to ensure it makes it over the hill every time.

I've only ever ridden it once and it's insane. We got in line right as the park opened and still waited an hour. There were two or three cars that had a rollback before us, I was crossing my fingers for one but we made it over.

0-120mph in four seconds, in an open car, is a sensation you're not really going to get anywhere else. I don't even think there's a motorcycle that will do that.

Top Thrill Dragster is totally worth the wait. It's just frustrating to wait a long time then have the ride close (as happens frequently)

It's a hydraulic/cable drum system that weighs every single train to make sure it "drifts" over the top for maximum effect. Some factors, usually a burst of wind, can't be figured in the equation.
