Top Ten Game Weapons of All Time

My most favorite of favorites would have to be the rocket launcher from Quake 1. There was nothing more satisfying than hitting near someone, hearing them scream and their bodies flying across the screen. Very satisfying kill.

Second favorite is rail gun from Q2. Fantastic.

#1 is OBVIOUSLY the chainsaw from Doom, possibly sharing the spot with the BFG if you're not into close combat.
That aside, in no particular order:
Quake1 rocket launcher
The Gauss Gun from Syndicate
Double Barrel Shotgun from Doom II.
Disc Launcher from Tribes deserves an honorary mention even though it wasn't spectacular in itself.
That .223 gun from Fallout 1(they sissified the sound in F2, so no spot for that one)
Shrink Gun from Duke Nukem
Nuke Launcher from Shadow Warrior

i totally know the fallout gun you are talking about, it's a sawed off rifle of some kind. best gun in fallout1 and best non-energy pistol in fallout 2. i love that gun!

Nothing like blowing the guts out of some schmuck with that bad boy 🙂

Oh and a little extra honorary mention, the Dragunov from Jagged Alliance 2, maybe not the best weapon in the game, but cool nevertheless 🙂

UT doesn't have the BFG. It has the Redeemer.

AVP had the same thing with its grenade launcher and that game came out in 99 I think.

I went back and played the entire game from the start with just powers and lightsabre. Loved it.

Yep. Plus the disc thrower from the Tribes series is missing. Say what you might about Tribes, but the disc was an amazing weapon with a steep learning curve that was brutal in the hands of an expert. Disc duels between experts were epic. I still remember some of the insane "mid-air" discs I've pulled.
That's my idea of the perfect game weapon. Something that takes a great deal of skill to use, but with which an expert can dominate the game. Not something that any n00b can pick up and dominate with.

Anybody play Blood and use the voodoo doll? Now, that was cool, well different anyway. Also, always enjoyed the weapons from Shadow Warrior, the rocket launcher which would take different cards, heatseeker, nuke.

Meh... too FPS centric. The most entertaining weapons I've used in a game are in the Ratchet & Clank series. Lots of wild weapons that can be upgraded/leveled-up. Screw boring ass FPS guns.

Woah good call. That game was such a blast when I first played it. Part 2 was great as well, however I never got into part 3.

Are you sure you don't mean part 4? Part 3, Up Your Arsenal, is likely the best in the series. In part 4, Deadlocked, they changed up the gameplay a bit. In Deadlocked most of the combat takes place in arena type combat and Clank is only a supporting character, not a playable one. Instead you have two robots with you that you can upgrade and support you in battles. Deadlocked was definitely a step back from Up Your Arsenal and I was initially turned off, but by the end of the game I was loving it.

the only thing I thought when I clicked that was "BFG". Glad to see it was on there, but disappointed it wasn't #1.

I expected a lot of them to be on there, like the gravity gun, the BFG, the Halo sword. Some really nice ones I didn't expect were the Mario cart shell and the spreader from Contra.

BTW I thought the list was fine. It was based on originality and fun factor, which all of the weapons on the list had at one point or another (remember many of the games were from a LONG time ago). The other weapons you guys are naming, like the AWP, the flak cannon, rocket launcher, Deagle, etc etc are just copies of real guns or copies of guns from other games (for example, the rail gun was basically the father of all sniper rifles, especially one-hit kill ones like the AWP).
