Top rack dishwasher safe = also microwavable safe?

usually top rack safe means that you can put it in the microwave but only up until boiling point at which time it may melt - so no more than 8 mins.

there are a number of materials that should not be subjected to microwaves. if you're only concerned about the heat, then it's probably okay to put in the microwave, as long as it's not subjected to sustained high heat from the food inside.
