Top Quality Mid-Tower

I am looking for a high quality mid tower ATX case for my cousin. He wants something small, but I still want to get him something with good cooling and expandability. He does not overclock or do anything major like that. He does not plan on expanding a lot, but I want him to be able to do so if he decides to in the future. I am looking at the Addtronics 3891A. What would you suggest? Also, where can I buy this online?

Elan Vital T-10. Great circulation, easy to work with, stylish and excellent quality. [I got burned (ie: ripped off, lied to, etc) by Antec, so I'm obviously not recommending them].

...hagbard

I don't recommend the 3890 because it has the power supply parallel to the motherboard, which is always bad for CPU cooling. If you buy locally, the Enlight 7237 case is a solid choice because every local store seems to have them; this way, you can save on shipping.

Hey S0me nobody locally here has the enlight cases...

I would reccomend a global win ycc-802. Great case & total of 10 bays for a mid tower is awesome..

I recommend the Enlight 7237 w/ 300W PSU. 4 - 5 1/4 drive bays, 2 - 3 1/2 + 2 - 3 1/2 internal. Good air flow. Good price and can be bought online or at your local store. Great for doing case mods as well from what I've been told, haven't tried anything myself YET.

I have the Antec KS-282 [pp-303x PS] and it's great. Fans are limited: one 80mm in front and back. But I use Panaflo's, so that's not too big a deal. PS is AMD recommended, so you know your not getting a s_itty one. I got it about a month ago and it's great.

I put up a vote for the InWin S500 cases...they have plenty of space in them, are very easy to work with, spots for 2 extra fans, and drive rails (though personally I hate these damn things). They're pretty cheap on the net, but I'd advise gettin a good 300watt PS in it if you can.

Another vote for YCC-802. I got one for my second system and I like it very much. It's really great case!

This page has several links to review sites. 🙂

BTW, I got mine with OK 300W PS at $59+shipping

If cooling options are a strong concern, then you may want to steer your cousin towards a slightly larger case where the psu is mounted horizontally above the motherboard. This allows for a rear exhaust fan and easier access to the motherboard.

The Enlight already mentioned is a good case for modders, the front bezel begs to be opened up, it needs it. Probably not what you want to do.

A few others offer good stock cooling- Palo Alto PA600, Fong Kai FK603, and the new InWin S508-IW. Each has its strong points. None have quite the build quality of the Addtronics, but do offer superior design IMHO.

You can look them over at WWW.Directron.com. The Inwin is particularly appealing, although I haven't actually used one.
