Top Italian swimmer's horror as her £318 bathing costume bursts open in a very unfortunate place at championship meet

It's the wardrobe malfunction to end all wardrobe malfunctions.

Italian Olympic swimmer Flavia Zoccari was forced to sit out a championship race at the Mediterranean Games yesterday after her bathing costume burst open in a very unfortunate place.

Flavia, 22, was wearing the controversial £318 top-of-the-line Jaked J01 swimsuit when disaster struck at the Games in Pescara, Italy today.

She burst into tears as she was forced to stand down from her race.

Jaked boasts that the full-body swimsuit - complete with back hinge - is 'more than skin'.

However the aerodynamic costume has been the subject of controversy after it was banned by FINA (the International Swimming Federation) earlier this year because it gave swimmers wearing it an unfair advantage.

FINA lifted the ban on the swimsuit a month later, in June of this year, after Jaked, which sponsors the Italian national swim team, protested the ban.

Zoccari - who is nearly six feet tall - later apologised for the embarrassing incident.

I wasn't sure were the problem was initially - ya know fashion and all. Butt cracks were in a couple of years ago.

There's gotta be something else going on for her to be this upset.

So you can easily get in and out of it? Those things are MORE than skin tight, otherwise they wouldn't be hydrodynamic. Would be painful getting in and out of them otherwise.

I'm sure having her ass hanging out in public is an unpleasant feeling - but I think more to the point, she had to stand down from the race cause of the swimsuit breaking, during a championship race no less?.

I imagine it's not getting to swim that was causing the tears.

I'm sure having her ass hanging out in public is an unpleasant feeling - but I think more to the point, she had to stand down from the race cause of the swimsuit breaking, during a championship race no less?.

I imagine it's not getting to swim that was causing the tears.

Ok. It didn't make sense since many seem to look forward to any chance of exposing themselves these days.

I'd assume that either she didn't have a spare, they didn't want to hold up the race for her, or the refs just flat-out disqualified her.

the jaked things provide a pretty significant reduction in drag. That advantage is totally gone with the hole in the ass.

It's not exactly quick to get in and out of a compression suit. Those suits actually squeeze your muscles which apparently helps in swimming. You almost literally need to shoe horn yourself into one of those suits so she couldn't exactly just grab another one and switch suits, she'd need maybe 30 minutes to do the swap.
