Top high-end graphics cards?

I'm way out of date on what is what these days so can somebody tell me or point me to review that would show me what is the top graphics card choices of the current day? Looking for a high-end graphics card to stick to machine for good gaming performance. Not overly worried about the price right now.

Not worried about price? Get a GTX Titan.

Just so you're aware, the Titan costs $1000 for a 25-30% increase of a 7970 GHz which costs ~$400.

If you truly don't care about price it's the best single card, but you pay $600 for a third more FPS.

Whatever you do, don't get crossfire anything like 7990 until AMD fixes their driver problems. Since you said "card" and not GPU I suppose that makes GTX 690 viable... but I don't like multi-GPU even if it's from NVDA, so I'd rather have a single Titan.

Hi, sorry maybe I was not as specific as I should have been for you guys provide feedback. I want high-end but I'm not looking to spend $1000. That's a bit too much. Probably something in the $400-$600 range I would be able to swallow. Assuming the performance jump was significant to the next level. I want high-end but not bleeding edge new. The system specs I can't exactly say as I'm upgrading an old computer to a modern system that is midrange too high. I have a thread in the general forum where some guys were suggesting and I5 3750 I think it was, 16 gig of RAM, and SSD as the primary hard drive,etc. I am out update on most everything so I am upgrading my motherboard, hard drive, RAM, processor, and video card, and anything else absolutely mandatory like probably the power supply. That is why I asked the general question of what are some of the top cards. Thank you for the replies that everyone has put this far. That provides me some direction and knowledge of what names and numbers to look for.

If you're remotely interested in overclocking you may as well get one that has unlocked voltage. (7970 or 7950)

To be honest, a 7950 with a good cooler is all you really need. If you're in to overclocking make sure it has adjustable voltage or at least boost capabilities (which gives a default higher voltage). Anything above that (GTX 680, 7970, 7970 GHz, etc.) has a much poorer price/performance ratio.

The 7950 should run you <$300. If you go insane with multi-monitor or AA settings, you might have to consider multi-GPU.

I won't overclock .... not til its a few years old an I'm trying to stretch it

A highly oced 7970 with any oced 1155 cpu can comfortably run with a quality 650 watts psu with lots of hdds, cooling, etc

Either 670 or 7950 imo, neither the 7970 nor the 680 are worth the price difference between their two slightly cut brothers.

Titan is a joke for perf/$, it's only for people who want to absolute best performance possible or need the DP for CUDA.

7950 can OC to around 670 performance, it will use more power though for similar performance. 7950 has 3GB frame buffer, vs 2GB for 670 not a major factor at 1080p, but with PS4 having 8GB share it may become one.

670 should hold resale better than the 7950, price difference between two is noticeable. However with the 7950 to get decent thermals and acoustics and unlocked voltage you're going to want to spend around $300, with the 670 you can either go reference or with a $360 variant... OC doesn't do much for the 670, card is really best used stock imo.

You get metro last light with the 670, while you get Crysis 3/Bioshock Inf/Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon with the 7950... Games shouldn't be a huge factor anymore, most of them except metro are cheap enough to find, you can either buy the codes from AMDs promotion from other people or just use cdkey websites around the world to get really good deals (hooray PC gaming).

7950 can OC to around 680 performance.

If you overclock a 7950 to 1050/1450, it will trade blows with a 680. Almost every 7950 can do that even on stock volts. (1.175v)

This, if money matters more than OP first stated and later clarified. Although I wouldn't bother with voltage control too much, as even a stock-voltage oc should be enough.

I could be totally wrong, but since the OP said that he's not "overly worried about the price", I think he does have some sort of budget. So, I'd say go with a HD7970 Ghz.

I can't seem to find the HD 7970 Ghz online to get a price under AMD moniker.... I see gigabyte, XFX, etc....... same thing?
