I've got that on DVD now. It's really funny how they implemented widescreen on it, it leaves the aspect ratio the same and covers the top and bottom of the screen with black bars.
 
top gun was shot in super35, which uses a 4:3 ratio. for theatrical, they pretty much just frame it as 1.85 or whatever the ratio was.

that said, I can't wait for the re-release.
