Top Gear USA hosts...

For the show to even have a chance it needs someone that can be as harsh as Clarkson but uniquely American. Denis Leary would have been perfect even if he knows nothing about cars.

The biggest problem is that it took several years for the show to get off the ground on the BBC. NBC won't give it that much breathing room. It MUST be a success after the first couple of episodes just to get a full season in. And it should be interesting how much they bash American cars since they seem to be huge NBC sponsors!

It sucks that Jay Leno didn't want the job. He would be perfect. Maybe he should make his own show not affiliated with Top Gear.

I don't understand why they can't just broadcast the original show as it is, just a week after UK broadcast, on US network TV.

It will be ruined mostly because you guys KNOW how much you enjoy the original and will be constantly comparing it. Failure is assured.

I've seen it a couple times during my last few months in the UK. They often have a segment with a celebrity guest who drives laps with an econobox & the host then puts the guest's times on a rating board to compare them with previous celebrities. Thing is? They're all fucking british celebrities that none of us have heard of. These clips don't really get played in the US for the obvious reason that we don't know who the fuck they are. I think that's why the BBC just didn't sell the rebroadcast rights to the Speed or Discovery Channel.

Based on just what I see it's crap, featuring crap and crap.

Honestly....Adam Corolla is annoying as hell. Jay Leno would have been a good choice.
At least we know HE has a passion for vehicles.

But his passion is a hobby and as mentioned earlier in the thread he won't do it because NBC will fuck it up some way.

No, they aren't all Brit celebrities. Some of them are yes, it IS a British show after all.

I have all the episodes (full length) and there are quite a few guests that Americans will recognize.
