Top Gear's Middle East tour reportedly shot for Christmas Special

Were you wondering what the Top Gear crew were doing in Israel when they were spotted there last month? Well wonder no more.

Reports from the British Isles are now stating that the tour across the Middle East was actually shot for a Christmas Special in which Clarkson, Hammond and May retrace the steps of the Three Wise Men who, according to Christian lore, visited the Virgin Mary and the Baby Jesus in the manger in Bethlehem. Only while the trio of yore did it on camel-back, two millennia later, the team of British auto journos – who may have picked up as many followers today as the Nazarene messiah did in his – rode in across Turkey and Syria in three old roadsters.

Looks like it's going to be a Merry Christmas after all, Charlie Brown.

just finished the Apocalypse DVD which was good, not great. Can't wait for this one. I love their epic journeys, Botswana, Vietnam, Bolivia, Romania, etc...
 
Ha! Clarkson has already won by choosing an MX-5 and Hammond has lost by choosing a Barchetta, although as they are travelling across Turkey it's probably the best car as it's a FIAT. Most of the cars produced in Turkey for the last 30 years or so have been FIAT based in one way or another.

I'm not even going to discuss May's mint-green Z3...

It is FF, although I would call it a roadster. I actually had one some years back for a week. It was great fun and directly comparable to it's peers. You just don't get the FR dynamics, as it's actually based on a modified old Punto chassis , albeit with a ~140hp motor.
 
can't wait for the next season....they were spotted in NYC with an sls, a 458, and one other car I can't remember.
 
I have been a massive top gear fan for years, I've seen every episode more than twice and I even went to see an episode in series 11 get filmed (in the audience) they have always made fun of NASCAR saying it's for retards, and that you just drive round in a circle, this week they spent time with the retards they make fun of, and said nothing, sold out. 🙁 Shame.

You know when Top Gear makes fun of stuff like NASCAR it's just for entertainment purposes, they don't really mean it.

Hmm.... I don't know about that, but none-the-less they don't normally go back on something. The bit with the stig shooting was awesome though.
