Of course Top Gear is on Discovery Channel on Wed nights in the US. Of course it is Americanized and so far has only been stuff from last season. BBC didn't care for a long time probbably because it wasn't availalbe in the US, but since it is now (kind of) I think they are tightening down. I just wish Discovery would air the straight up UK versions as it is so much better.

What's different about the Discovery Channel episodes?
Well I have noticed they re-edit the segments (seams like Discovery's are always shorter). Also all the in-studio (with the audience) stuff seams to be re-shot (or done after the UK one?) and they make referances on how to explain Wales to an American audience etc. Also no stars in the resaonable priced car.

Oh ok. I like the in-studio stuff...

As for the star in a reasonably priced car segment, if something had to be cut, it might as well be that. I only recognize the star about 20% of the time--if that much.
Yea I just remembered what it was b/c I was watching an old episode I missed from last season a couple of weeks ago with the Rally Mitsu vs. Bobsled. Hammond in the UK version said that one of those bobsled team guys told him he is 3cm shorter after doing that for years. And last weeks Discovery Top Gear had that segment and while all the same main stuff was there, they cut that bit I mentioned above.

cut up selected segments from the original. less brit slang, more explaining everything for dumb americans. jeremy looks like he's in a state of disbelief that he has to do such stupid sh*t for dumb yanks. no more british news stuff. basically blanding down the entire thing when one of the reasons we liked it was the weird british charm. goes from 60 minutes to 45 for the commercials.

love the F430, but overall that episode was one of the most boring episodes i've seen in a long time. who cares about three lame cars taking up the whole episode? they even admit at the end that they all suck and you're better off with the boxter, Z4, or S2000.

You obviously missed the point - that segment wasn't about the cars, it was about how fscking badass Iceland is. Or at least that's what I got out of it.
