What's the deal with U2? Ever since the Unforgettable Fire album, nothing they release ever measured up. Even Joshua Tree, and no - I don't want the $50 U2 Ipod coupon. I am willing to trade that for anything good that anyone has to offer.

1. Pet Shop Boys
2. Depeche Mode
3. Pearl Jam
4. Linkin Park
5. New Order (or Joy Division/Electronic)

1:Cracker
2:Urge Overkill
3:U2...errr.Placebo
4:REM
5:The Tea Party

sidenote: Zooropa has recently become my favorite U2 album for unknown reasons. Don't tell me U2 has done nothing innovative since The Unforgetable Fire; not true.

But it doesnt really matter because anything i list is just what I prefer. Bashing other people's favorite music is just dumb as no one can agree that a specific band is great. (i.e. there'll be people who hate The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc.)

Exactly. And even though the Beatles, Stones, CSNY etc. are all very talented, they're out of my top 10 just because I'm tired of them after hearing them all of my life.

Here's my current top 40, which doesn't include U2 even though The Joshua Tree would be in a list of my 100 favorite CDs:

AC-DC, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, David Baerwald / David+David,
Beatles, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Clannad,
Concrete Blonde, Leonard Cohen, Elvis Costello, Dead Can Dance,
Thomas Dolby, Bryan Ferry / Roxy Music, Neil Finn / Crowded House, Peter Gabriel,
Grateful Dead, Peter Himmelman, Journey, Nik Kershaw,
Live, Aimee Mann / 'Til Tuesday, Morphine, Motels,
Heather Nova, Oingo Boingo, Robert Palmer, Grant-Lee Phillips / Grant Lee Buffalo,
Pink Floyd, Public Image Limited, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Squeeze,
Al Stewart, Richard Thompson / Fairport Convention, They Might Be Giants, Tanita Tikaram,
Tom Waits, Chris Whitley. X, Yes

why is it when people list linkin park as good music people laugh. Sure it all sounds the same and sure they arnt "real" metal, BUT you cant deny the fact that their music is quite well made, and is a good mixture of diffrent genres.

I could probably list 50 bands better than them but that would involve too much typing.

Whoah, lots of U2 hatin here.

Personally, I don't rate anyone ahead of U2, though IMO their best album was War and some of the early 90's albums were mostly duds(with a couple good songs each). Overall they're one of the Great bands that will remain great long after their demise.
